Are your Acrylic Nails lasting? Here are 5 tips to make them last.

Do you feel great after getting a fresh new set of Acrylic Nails? I mean, you can be crawling out of bed, no makeup on, hair in a total mess but still feel so damn good, right?

Unfortunately, having a fresh set of Acrylic Nails isn't permanent. Your natural nails will grow out after 2 or 3 weeks (depending on the person), so it needs regular maintenance and attention. You must be gentle when doing housework. Yes, acrylics are known for their strength and they are a hard layer protecting your natural nails, but you still need to treat them like diamonds.

So, are your Acrylic Nails Lasting?

Depending on how you take care of your nails daily and how fast your nails grow, your nail technician will recommend you to come in for an infill or imbalance every 2 to 3 weeks. Some people may last 4 weeks because their nails grow really slow.

Do Acrylic Nails Just Fall Off?

Do acrylic nails just fall off?? Well, if they do, that means your nail technician didn't do her job properly. She either forgot to apply primer, or didn't remove all the oils from the nail plate, or applied the product incorrectly.

So, here are a few tips to keep in mind when having Acrylic Nails to last.

1. Find a good Acrylic Nail Technician

A good Acrylic Nail Technician is:

♥ Consistent, Curious and Creative.

♥ Passionate about nails.

♥ Always Professional and positive.

♥ Qualified, of course.

♥ Highly skilled and up to date with products and trends.

♥ Good listener and has a great sense of humour.

♥ Their workstation is always clean and tidy.

♥ Friendly and open-minded.

♥ Someone that always makes you feel welcomed when you enter the door.

♥ Caring and keeps you up to date with your infills, imbalances, and makes sure your natural nails are still looking healthy.

♥ Someone that gives you aftercare advice and educates you on your nails.

♥ Your best friend that listens to all your worries.

2. So be prepared to budget for your Acrylic Nails (it’s a long-term kinda thing)

Before thinking about getting Acrylic Nails, just know it will become one of your monthly bills. Maintaining them and getting infills every 2-3 weeks will cost a bit, so be prepared to pay some moola if you always want pretty nails. If having them on makes you feel good. why not, hey?

3. Schedule your Acrylic Infills

So, if you enjoy having acrylic nails, well it’s time to take your diary book out and create a habit of scheduling your acrylic infill appointments. It's important you don't miss your appointment since the longer you leave your nails to grow out, the easier it is to damage your natural nails.

Your natural nails grow out and leave a gap at the cuticle area. This is when lifting starts to happen and you get all sorts of stuff stuck, like your hair, dirt, food and water. This may cause some bacterial infection and if you're someone who loves to pick and chew on them, you start damaging your natural nail underneath. The acrylic becomes less strong and it's more difficult for it to stay on your natural nails as the apex has moved forward to the free edge away from the stress area, so easier to just snap off (ouch!!). That also means its hard work for your nail technician as she needs to start from scratch. So make sure you turn up for your next appointment ladies!

4. Perform daily and weekly maintenance on your Acrylic Nails

If you look after your acrylic nails, this step won’t be such a chore. The more you take care of your gorgeous nails daily, you prevent diseases or breakages from happening.

These steps are really important:

♥ So keep them clean using a brush. Scrub off the “dirt” or “gunk” underneath your nails.

♥ Apply cuticle oil and moisturize your hands daily to keep them soft and healthy.

♥ Pay attention to any lifting or crack marks on your acrylics.

♥ If you have nail varnish on, top coat it every 2 days to keep its shine and prevent it from chipping.

♥ Wear gloves when doing any washing or working with cleaning products.

♥ Book for infills every 2 - 3 weeks.

♥ Do not take long, warm baths.

♥ After washing your hands apply moisturizer.

♥ Do not use your nails as tools! Treat them like jewels. Lol

5. Take supplements and Vitamins for your natural nails

Take supplements that are rich in calcium and vitamins. When you age, you lack vitamin b and your skin and nails become really dry and brittle. So, it's important to remember to take your supplements and vitamins every day.

Hope you all enjoyed this blog post, take good care of your Acrylic Nails or any Nail Enhancement you have on. Remember to drink lots of water and apply cuticle oil daily.
